There are monthly subscriptions for just about every subject you can think of… and the metaphysical community hasn’t been left out.
One of the newest offerings is the Sage Goddess monthly subscription box aptly titled “Desiderata” — Latin for all the things you desire.
Sage Goddess owner Athena Perrakis launched Desiderata this month, with a goal of offering “tools and sacred treasures to delight, inspire and encourage” those who receive the boxes.
As with some monthly subscriptions, the contains of Desiderata are kept secret until the boxes are shipped and received. But the Sage Goddess website suggests that “unique gemstones, perfumes, candles, sacred adornment, magical tools, and altar decor” could find its way into the boxes.
Athena runs several Facebook groups and mentioned prior to launch that the theme of the September boxes would be Past Life Recall. The thought of exploring my soul’s early incarnations has always been intriguing… so I knew I had to have this box!
Size isn’t everything
I thought a video was the best way to show you the Sage Goddess monthly subscription box goodies, so take a peek below or continue reading after the vid for a written review of Desiderata.
Initially, I was surprised at Desiderata’s modest-sized box but quickly realized that size does not matter in this instance! The 6″x6″ box was beautifully packaged and presented. I loved the colorful “Desiderata” stamp above the address label. Such a nice touch! And the crinkled paper shreds inside were decorative yet cushioned the contents well during shipping.
As I mentioned above, past life recall is the theme of the September Desiderata offering. All the goodies inside the box supported this theme, including:
- 1 – 10ml rollerball bottle of Past Life perfume
- 2 – tealight candles made with Past Life perfume
- 1 – Apophyllite point crystal to “life the veil of darkness and bring light where it is needed”
- 1 – tumbled piece of Stilbite crystal to facilitate dream recall and emotional repatterning
- 1 – tumbled piece of Petrified Wood to “connect you to your ancestors as well as to ground and protect you as you journey”
Everything was well wrapped for shipping. The two tealights were packaged in a lovely drawstring pouch with a slip of paper explaining that the candles had been blessed and were ready for sacred discovery. The three crystals also were packaged in a sheer drawstring pouch, with the apophyllite point crystal safely enveloped in bubble wrap. The perfume didn’t have any additional wrapping.
The perfume is exquisite. That’s seriously the only word I can think of to describe it — and that’s saying a lot because I am not a big perfume person! Before I discovered Athena’s perfumes, I didn’t wear a scent because commercial perfumes never really appealed to me and my husband is very sensitive to fragrance.
But since discovering the Sage Goddess perfumes, I am hooked… and her Past Life perfume is divine. I wish I could describe the scent to you, but I am horrible at identifying notes. Athena rightfully keeps the ingredients of most of her blends a closely guarded secret, so I cannot offer a clue there either.
I can say that all of Sage Goddess’ perfumes are high quality and nothing like you’ve smelled in a department store. They are SO. MUCH. BETTER! And I love that she includes a gemstone in each bottle to infuse that crystal’s energy into the perfume’s oil.
I’ve been purchasing crystals and gemstones from Sage Goddess for awhile now, and I’ve never been disappointed in the quality of her stones — the crystals included in Desiderata are no exception. The apophyllite, stilbite and petrified wood pieces in the box were all a nice size. And the stilbite, for me personally, had a wonderful energy when I removed it from the box and drawstring pouch. Feeling an actual vibration from a crystal is a new-ish thing for me so I get a little giddy when I feel a sensation like I did with the stilbite. I am sooooo looking forward to working with these stones!
Past life… discovery?
The tealights included in the box were crafted with the Past Life perfume. The scented wax was poured over gems known for expansion and vision energy to infuse that power into the tealights and create a tool for past life exploration. Again, I love that crystals are included in the wax, just like they are included in the perfume.
If the Desiderata Sage Goddess monthly subscription box falls short in any way, it is this: I now have these beautiful, high-quality past life recall tools… but no confident plan to achieve effective results with them.
For instance, the slip of paper included with the tealights says: “these should be used in concert with your perfume and gemstones to explore your past lives. My intention is that each tealight will help you access one unique past life experience.” That’s awesome but…. access how? I’m a past life recall virgin, so I was a little disappointed with the lack of information on how to use these tools. I wish an example ritual or even a link or two to credible past life recall websites could have been included. It would have really knocked this set out of the park. After this box was released, there was discussion in the Sage Goddess Facebook groups about these tools, but not every subscription customer is a Facebook user or necessarily sees all conversations in those groups even if they are part of the online community.
Hurry up October!
Still, I’m in love with the contents of the inaugural Sage Goddess monthly subscription box Desiderata. Everything smells wonderful and has a fantastic energy to it. I’m counting down the days till the next box ships on Oct. 1.
EDITED TO ADD: I did an unboxing video of the October Desiderata on my YouTube Channel. Obviously, this video contains spoilers so if you haven’t received your box yet and want it to be a surprise, do NOT watch the video!
Desiderata, the Sage Goddess monthly subscription box, retails for $49 USD (plus $3 domestic US shipping). When you consider that many of Athena’s perfumes are in the $30 range, you begin to realize what a deal this subscription box is! Especially since the Past Life perfume is reportedly retired now after appearing in this set.
