A selenite crystal is a healing powerhouse. Selenite uses are numerous but one of my favorites is wielding a selenite wand.

Selenite wands can channel energy. And contrary to the sometimes over-the-top wizardry portrayed in mainstream books and films, learning to harness the gentle energy of selenite can bring peace to your environment and sacred space.

Yet, before you can use a selenite wand, you have to choose one.

How to choose a selenite wand

Sometimes, a piece of selenite will choose you in much the same way that Harry Potter’s wand chose him in the film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. This is known as a crystal or stone “calling” to you.

You might find yourself browsing crystals and stones online or at your favorite local metaphysical shop and a piece catches your eye. You may feel drawn to it. Or may hear an inner voice say “buy me.”

If this happens, go with it! Feeling called to a crystal is one of the best ways to choose a stone.

You also can consider the size and type. Some selenite wands are smaller. Some wands are bigger and longer. Some selenite wands can even be inscribed with images due to gypsum’s softness as a stone.

How to use selenite as a wand? Below are five easy ways you can learn how to use selenite wands to bring a gentle peaceful energy to your home or sacred space.

Cleanse other gems

Selenite is amazing for cleansing and clearing other gems. Why? Selenite itself is one of the few crystals and stones that doesn’t need energetic cleansing.

Yet, I still like to set my selenite out on a window sill as part of my full moon rituals. I keep my selenite crystals indoors because selenite will dissolve if it gets wet like from rain.

To cleanse other gems, gently place them atop a selenite wand and let them sit for several hours or overnight. This is a fantastic method for cleansing/charging gemstone jewelry, too. You may wish to use a large crystal of selenite for this purpose. Selenite charging plates can be great for this if you find yourself using selenite often to cleanse your gems.

Activate crystal grids

I love using selenite wands to activate crystal grids because of their white light energy. A wand with a tapered point on the end works best to direct your energy and intentions. A selenite unicorn horn wand can be a fun tool to use if you own one.

Cast magical circles

Much like activating a crystal grid, a selenite wand can channel your energy while casting a magical circle prior to any spell or ritual work. There are some variations on the actual casting requirements, so I won’t go into detail here, but felt it was worth mentioning that a wand is used for this purpose. And that a selenite wand specifically can be especially useful in this case due to its white light energy. If you are new to casting circles, you may wish to purchase a ritual set to get you started.

Meditation

Selenite is an ideal crystal for meditation because of its calm and peaceful energy. Using a selenite wand during meditation will assist the flow of white light energy and help attune your energy to your highest self.

Simply hold a selenite wand in one or both hands, whichever is most comfortable for you, and visualize its high frequency radiating white protective light to surround you. Visualize the light dispelling all negative energy around you, leaving only a gentle and calm space for you to meditate in.

Some folks like to use selenite wands as an eraser of sorts, visualizing stagnant or negative energy disappearing as you wave the wand over different areas of your body or nearby space.

For meditation, I like doing whatever feels natural and “right.” If one of the methods above speaks to you, give it a try. Other ideas may come to you for using selenite during meditation. Go with it! Let your intuition guide you!

Raise the vibration of your home

Selenite crystals naturally raise vibrations in the space surrounding it. That’s why I believe everyone should have a piece of selenite in the home or sacred space.

Keep selenite wands on window sills on each side of your home to form a protective white light grid.
