My preschooler’s curiosity is insatiable. Almost every task — no matter what it is — is accompanied by at least a handful of questions.
Of course, she’s fascinated by Mommy’s tarot and oracle cards. Any time I pull out one of my decks, she wants to “play” with them, too.
I want to encourage her curiosity and allow her to handle the cards but… she’s three. Most things she touches end up missing, mangled or both!
So that’s why I decided to buy my daughter her own deck — the Cherub Angel Cards for Children by Doreen Virtue.

After purchasing the Cherub Angel Cards for Children deck for my daughter, I realized the cards strengthen my relationship with her in three special ways:
It’s an activity we both enjoy and can do together
There are certain activities my daughter loves doing almost exclusively with her daddy, like building Lego bricks and rough-housing.
Exploring the Cherub Angels Cards for Children is something she does only with me. It is time together that’s ours and ours alone. It’s so incredibly special. I love that she’s naturally interested in a passion of mine. I’m happy to share it with her.
Granted, my daughter has just as much fun using her Minnie Mouse playing cards as the angel ones. But she’s learning some amazing lessons and concepts with the cherub cards.
The cards open communication and start a dialogue
One of the things I really love about the Cherub Angels Cards for Children is that each card contains a message — just like adult oracle cards do. At her young age, my daughter is still learning about concepts and the world around her, so each card we draw is an opportunity to discuss and learn.
The cards cover a wide range of topics, from healthy habits and cultivating relationships to more complex themes like bullying.
I wish I didn’t have to worry about a subject like bullying until she gets older, but I’ve read many articles of kids being bullied in preschool (!) which my daughter will start in the fall. Working with these cards gives me a gentle way to introduce important topics to her in a friendly and loving way.
The cards allow me to share my spirituality with her
For the past year, I’ve been working to strengthen my relationship with spirit, in particular my angels and my guides. In doing so, spirituality is more important to me now than it ever has been in my life.
The Cherub Angel Cards for Children deck allows me to share the spiritual side of myself with my daughter, while also experiencing spirit through her. I mentioned in a previous post that I feel my spirit guides communicate with me sometimes via my daughter’s use of cards.
I’d love for my daughter to grow up with a stronger connection to spirit than I had as a child. With these cards, I feel she already has a head start!
If you have children, do you allow them to “play” with your oracle or tarot cards? Or do they have their own deck? Leave a comment or join the discussion on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
