Lately I’ve been geeking out over all the cool tarot apps available for my iPhone.
One of my favorites so far is the Tarot Sampler app by The Fool’s Dog. As the name implies, this app uses a sampling of various cards from 10 different decks for its readings on iPhone, iPad or the iPod Touch.
Getting a peek at new cards is one of my favorite features of this tarot app!
I love being able to view and oogle all the different cards that are not part of my collection yet! I feel like a kid in a candy store every time I open the app.
This app is full of discovery. You can explore the different cards on your own at your leisure, or use the “Today’s Card” feature to study one card per day.
If you’re in the mood to simply discover new cards, the app has an “explore” feature for browsing the various tarot suits. You can view only the pentacle cards or the wand cards, if you wish.
Then it’s time for a reading!
The Tarot Sampler app allows you to type in a question that you need guidance on, pick an appropriate spread, shuffle and then draw your cards. The app provides the meaning for each card with a tap of your finger, and allows you to journal or take notes on any card you view.
There are 20 different card spreads to choose from, including well-known spreads like the three-card Past, Present and Future spread and the Celtic Cross.
Take a look at the Tarot Sampler app in action:
If none of the spreads work for your situation, that’s OK!
This tarot app has a free form feature that allows you to place the cards wherever you like on the screen so you can create your own spread! Combine different spreads, create something totally original… it’s your call!
Then there’s the journaling tool and range of settings.
The Tarot Sampler automatically keeps track of each card or reading in a journal. Can’t remember the card you drew two days ago? No biggie! Tap the journal button and you’ll see an index of all your cards and readings. If you want to record additional information, like your personal interpretation of a card, you can do that too with the journal.
Inside the app’s settings, you can completely customize your experience. Don’t want to deal with reversed cards? You don’t have to. Turn them off. Want to read using only the majors? You can do that too. How do you want to draw? Would you rather skip shuffling and just get to the reading? Could you use the help of voice prompts to guide you through the reading or announce each card’s position? All these preferences are in the Tarot Sampler settings. You can even choose from more than 30 different reading cloths, or use your own image — which is cool!
Give this app a try. You have nothing to lose.
Because it’s completely free for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch through the App Store.
Actually, you may lose something — time! Because it’s so easy to get lost in exploring the cards, journaling your interpretations and having fun with this mobile tarot app!
