I've loved the moon ever since I was a little kid. I love it even more now that I can fully appreciate its energy and power. I look forward to the full moon each month because it's a great time to take stock of what's working in my life, what isn't, and release what is no longer serving me. It's also the perfect time for cleansing crystals in the moonlight. Usually, I only cleanse and re-charge the crystals I've been using frequently since the last full moon. This includes any crystals I may wear as jewelry. So my gemstone bracelets and pendants all get cleansed and re-charged, too. Everyone has his or her own ritual for cleansing crystals under the full moon. Below I'll share the process I go through each month, but I also encourage you to follow your intuition and do ... Homemade basil oil – Infuse: Oil, Spirit, Water book
I bought a gorgeous basil plant at my local farmers market over the weekend. It's big and beautiful, with leaves just begging to be picked and devoured. I keep walking by it to catch a whiff of the intoxicating scent. I'm hoping it doesn't die, or rather, that I don't kill it. My thumbs are not green. At all. So I wanted to use some of the basil leaves while they were alive fresh. What to do with all those seductive leaves? This post contains affiliate links. See my disclosure policy. I've been using fresh basil on my toast each morning, but I wanted to use a large portion of leaves at once. Should I make a vibrant pesto? Mince and freeze for future recipes? Then I remembered. I was lucky enough to receive a copy of Infuse: Oil, Spirit, Water by Eric Prum and Josh Williams ... View Post
Magick on a Budget: 5 Ways to Read New Age Books While Saving Money
I've been on a summer reading kick, trying to read as many new age books as my free time will allow. And I've been trying to do this on the cheap because being a stay-at-home mom doesn't pay very well. ;) Below are the tips and tricks I've learned for making the most of a reading list while on a budget. 5 Ways to Read New Age Books While Saving Money This list may contain affiliate links. See my disclosure policy. 1. Visit your local library Your local library can be a jackpot of free information. I've been able to borrow books on crystals, spells, tarot, herbs, aromatherapy and essential oils -- all from the modest-sized library in my small town. Ask if your library participates in a statewide sharing network. If my library doesn't have a book I want, I can request it ... View Post
Traveling with chakra stones? Use a pill case!
My healing crystals and chakra stones always come with me when I travel. I never leave the house without malachite and carnelian -- even if I'm just running to the market -- but I also enjoy having a set of chakra stones with me when I travel long distances, like on an overnight trip. The problem is how to pack them. Normally I'd put all my chakra stones in a little pouch. But sometimes the string on the pouch comes loose and my stones end up all over the bottom of my purse or scattered throughout my suitcase. Thankfully, I found something better: a stackable rainbow pill case. I'll admit, I didn't think of this awesomeness on my own. I saw it online but can't remember the website. (If anyone knows who blogged this, let me know and I'll link 'em up!) Still, I wanted to ... View Post
8 Sleep Aids for Children: How Bedtime Tools Help My Toddler Sleep
When I became a mom in the fall of 2012, my sister gifted me The Baby Sleep Solution by Suzy Giordano. I was excited about this book because Giordano's sleep-training method, which involves getting (and keeping) children on a schedule, worked beautifully for my sister's two girls. It worked so well that as they got older, they actually looked forward to going to bed and often initiated their bedtime routine when they felt tired. "Wow, I hope my kid will be like that!" I always thought to myself when my nieces asked to turn in for the night. But then I had my daughter and sleep deprivation happened. In a MAJOR way. New parents or the walking dead? On our second full night home from the hospital, I'll never forget looking over at my husband as we sat in our disheveled living room. ... View Post
